Finally Finished Knitting....

...the Mary Janes! I'll full them today or tomorrow. Once dry and I can cut them up to make the Mary Jane style. One more present almost done.

And I made up a pair of muffatees for my Youngest Daughter. The ones I'd made her last year somehow got ruined. The yarn got cut and it had a big hole and, well, I'm not skilled enough to repair it without having any of the yarn laying around. Anyway, I salvaged one of them to be part of a pair of mittens for someone and made these new ones to replace them.
Muffatees

I didn't work on 2nd Son's work socks at all yesterday, waiting till Youngest Son could try them on just to make sure it is not too big around. I dread the though of having to frog it....

Grandsons were over for a sleep over from Saturday to Sunday. Eldest Granddaughter was invited for a sleep over from Sunday to Monday. They all go to the same school, so it worked out well.

Don't know what knitting is in store today. Youngest Son won't get out of bed till noon, so if I don't find something to do this morning I'll have to resort to housework!

More Projects!

So, once I finished up the legwarmers for Grand Daughter, I realized I had to make some Christmas presents for her new teachers! Although I know they are going to tell us we can't give gifts (unlike the last school which constantly asked us to provide gift cards on a regular basis for the teachers) We'll find a way to gift them!

I chose the Sideways Bobble Hat for at least one of them. I was going to make both of them from this pattern, but.... it calls for six panels and I think it's too small. Now I have another color of the same yarn (the recycled sweater) to put the odd panel in, so this one will work out okay. But I don't have enough of the contrasting third color to use it as one of the two many colors to make two identical yet different hats. So may resort to another pattern for the second hat. I'm looking at The Republic.

The rest of my holiday knitting is not on the same time schedule as the stuff I keep moving to the top of the list. None of them have to be done till right before Christmas.... Let's see, I still have pair of kids slippers (45% done), finish up the Mary Janes (55% done), and the Hoodie Scarf (55% done). It's just a matter of sitting done and finishing them. The only problem is I just keep wanting to start new projects!!!!!

Knit, knit, knit

See my new shoes? I got them at.....Disneyland! No surprise there, huh? Youngest Daughter and Youngest Granddaughter got a pair, too. They are Crocs and are really comfortable. Good winter shoes here in the desert (where it's still in the 80s during the day) but as I don't wear socks in the summer, the plastic will be just a bit too warm for any long term wear.

I love the jewelry they sell for them! The down side is the MM holes in the adult shoes are just a tad too big for the jewelry. I had more than just the ghost but they got lost.

I got one side of the hoodie scarf done yesterday. CO and have a couple inches done on the second one. Am working on the heel decreases on the second Mary Jane.

I got a really nice book out of the library yesterday. The Beatrix Potter Knitting Book by Pat Menchini. It's a British publication but is distributed in the US. Wonderful Edwardian knits...really cute ones for the kids and some nice adult patterns, too. Very soft, romantic stuff. The one I like the best is a pair of overalls and shirt for a toddler. May have to put that one on my "To Do" list.

Back to Normal....

Back to Normal.... magnify
Well, it's Thursday and I finally feel like I've recovered from my vacation. Monday was eaten up by five loads of laundry and grocery shopping. Tuesday was house cleaning and vegetative state. Wednesday was a doctor appointment. So, today's Thursday and I hope nothing more exciting that a dropped stitch or two.

This is really just about the most recent pic of my current Mickey Mouse sock. I have turned the heel and am doing heel decreases, but.... These are on hold now because of holiday knitting that must be done.

Mary Jane 2

This is my current progress on the Felted Mary Janes. I frogged the one I had been working on and with the new correct size 10 needles I bought prior to vacation, CO back on and have gotten about 2/3 of the way done on the first one. These are top priority today.

And I CO a new project based on this Hoodie Scarf pattern. I did about two inches of the pattern and determined it wasn't wide enough for the person I'm giving it to. So frogged that and decided, due to time contraints to make it much simpler. This is just a K3, P1 row pattern with an I-Cord edging.
It's made from a strand of acrylic and a strand of recyled sweater.

Row 1, 2, and 3: Knit to last three sts. Bring yarn forward and slip, as if to purl, the last three sts.
Row 4:
Purl to last three sts, slip as if to purl, the last three sts.
Repeat 4 rows.
