I was the first one to post a picture of my finished mittens from the Mystery Mitten KAL. That qualifies me for one of the prizes! The mitten pattern is very quick to do!

Pattern: Mystery Mitten KAL
Yarn: Moda Dea Washable Wool
Needles: US 5
Size: Fits my 7 year old GD

And I got quite a bit done on my Midnight in the Orchid Garden Socks. I CO with 72 sts to make a bit bigger so I could make them a bit longer than my usual socks. These are six inches from top to starting of heel flap. Notice the difference in the yarn patterning. You can pretty much see from just the patterning where I went from 72 sts to 64 sts. I doing a bit of a stitch pattern: R1: K2, YO, K2tog; R2-4: K even. Between the yarn patterning and the stitch pattern there is quite a bit of movemnt in the design.

Today starts the NAS Mitten KAL, so I'll be working on mittens today!

We had a nice thunderstorm yesterday in the early evening during dinner. Lights flickered, and we dug out a bunch of candles. Didn't need them, though. It did cool things down a bit.

  1. Beautiful mittens! I'm not at all surprised you were first. Great job on the socks, too. You sure are being productive this summer. I am a real slacker in comparison!

  2. I didn’t find the post for the reading challenge, so I’ll post here.

Welcome to the 100+ Reading Challenge! :-D I have posted your link on the right sidebar of the blog. Another thing I am doing something, at least I think it is. I'd like to start posting the participating members favorite book for each month on the blog. Jan - April are already up. If you send me your favorite book and author of the book for those months, I’ll post it in the photo slider.

You are also welcome to chat with us on the Yahoo Groups. The link can be found at

Best of luck and above all, have fun!

  3. I have never knitted a mitten, but you are inspiring me to put them on my list.

  4. Oh no I can't get into mittens too! these make me want to!

I really am glad you're commenting. Please make sure I can find you by insuring you leave an e-mail address. It's so frustrating to have someone ask a question and no way to answer them! Thanks!
