When each wave comes a rollin' in....

We're home! We had a great trip. It was HOT! Which is really weird cuz it was at least ten degrees cooler (as the thermometer reads) in Disneyland than it was here in the desert but the first three days really wiped us out. The last day was much cooler or we'd finally adapted.

Oldest Granddaughter was tall enough to go on all the rides. We spent a lot of time on the roller coasters as well as the smaller rides for Youngest Granddaughter. Thursday and Friday were really great....hardly anyone there in the park at all. We rarely had to stand in line for more than ten minutes. Saturday and Sunday were a bit more crowded, which is to be expected.

Youngest Daughter and I overcame our hesitations and rode the really big roller coaster, California Screamin'. It was great! Youngest Daughter didn't share my enthusiasm, but I enjoyed it every one of the three or four times I went on it!

I got very little knitting done. We didn't have to stand in lines, so that cut that KIP time out and it was just too hot! And of course we rolled into bed as soon as we got back to the motel and were out the door shortly after getting up in the mornings. I did knit a bit in the car over and back.... Gusset decreases are finished.

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig....

All my flights went well, were on time and I arrived home at 8:20 pm last night. "Home" as landed at the air port. I was finally unpacked and in bed by 10:30 and couldn't sleep. That eventually passed, too and it was nice to be in my own bed, with my animals waking me up all through the night to be assured I was really there.

I really had a wonderful vacation. I was amazed at how late I stayed up and how late I slept in. Being an early, early riser has always been my way and sleeping past 6:00 am regularly for ten days was amazing. Even with the daylight savings time thing it's amazing. And speaking of that, it's the first time in almost 30 years I've dealt with that

Remember the lovely car my brother gave me last October? Well, it is no longer. While I was gone, my daughter had a mechanic look at it to diagnose the clicking sound and while I don't think that was ever found, the transmission is about to fall out and the estimate on that and a couple of other things is $2000. So, that ends the era of us being a two car family. I'll try to sell to a mechanic as a fix up toy to practice on, but....it'll probably get donated to charity.

I didn't knit on the flight at all. I just wanted to read and vegetate. On the flight from Nashville to Dallas/Ft. Worth I had plenty of room. The flight was only partially full. So there would have been room, but.... The flight from DFW home was packed with grumpy people. The skinny bitch that sat next to me huffed and puffed all the way cuz she felt I was crowding her. Hey, life's rough all over. How much crowding can one person sitting in a chair holding a book do? Yes, I probably made two of her, and yes, she apparently doesn't care for people that are bigger than she is, but, hey, life's rough all over!

Here's pics of stuff accomplished while I was gone. The two pairs of socks I'd started before I left just barely fit him but, hey, at least they fit for awhile.

I finished one of my confetti socks and have CO the other.


DIL Waterloose Opal socks fit perfectly. Finished off the toes and although she's not fond of "wild socks" swears she likes these!

And I got a new sock project bag. :)

The Doctor's Office

My grandson had to go in for a check on his ear infection. He was relatively happy until the good doc walked in. However, his ears are all cleared up and he's good to go!

We're heading out to Gatlinburg today to spend a couple of nights visiting the local sites, one of which is the Ripley's Believe It or Not Aquarium. I'm really excited about it. I love zoos, acquariums, anything to do with animals. There is talk of going to Dollyworld, too. I like amusemen parks, too, and this will be loads of fun just for the picture value!

The weather has been beautiful. Warm enough for a light sweater, cool enough for socks!

Speaking of socks, I finished up the two pair for my grandson. Both will fit him for a few days. He has such chubby ankles that it won't take long before they won't fit. I've got my measuring tape with me, so I'll be working on some more soon enough.

Got some yarn yesterday at the not quite local yarn store. Wool blend to make more work socks for my son. And I have the pair of Waterloose socks to finish up for my DIL.

Having lots of fun getting acquainted with my grandson, watching movies with my son and visiting with my DIL. Great vacation!
