Three Quarters of a Blanket

Page copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscape

Two more 16 inch squares finished. The fourth square is about half way done. Then putting them together followed by an edging around them to finish off the blanket.

I'm glad I decided to combine four squares. It's using up lots of my little balls of yarn. I don't have lots of almost full skeins to continue making one large square blanket.

When did you first learn to knit socks?

End of 2006

What’s the first sock you ever knit?
After four Christmas Stockings, Joan's Socks.

Favorite Sock Pattern?
Plain old vanilla socks, top down. I have it memorized except for the number of sts used in turning the heel and then use this chart.

Favorite needle method?
I'm a recent Magic Loop convert. Up until then it was four DPNs.

Favorite sock needles?
What ever is at hand... I have Addis, Bates and some other kind I got at the LYS. They all work fine and all kink up equally regardless of how many hot baths they get and despite the fact they are stored hanging rather than coiled up.

Who do you knit socks for?
Mostly myself as I'm the only one that really appreciates them. My Oldest Granddaughter is a recent convert at 7, but....

How many pairs have you knitted to date?
Check the bottom of the side bar for the count and list.

What is on your sock knitting to-do list?
I have several skeins of yarn....no specific patterns in mind.

What kind of socks to you like to knit?
Top down, plain leg and foot. My yarns are generally wild enough I don't use stitch patterns.

Striped?
Yes, self stripped and planned!

Colorwork?
I have, but don't like the futziness of it.

Plain Stockinette?
Please and thank you.

Cabled?
Someday

Lace?
Some, but not much

Anklets?
Pretty much all I do....

Knee Socks?
Don't need them in the desert and they take too long.

Solid colors?
Only for my boring conservative sons.

Bright and crazy?
Always.

Faux Fair Isle (the yarn doing all of the work)?
Not yet.

Take this and put it on your blog if you like. Leave a comment so I can read your answers!

Need something to do with all those single, white, commercial socks?
Echo Burning (Jack Reacher Series, #5) Echo Burning by Lee Child

Another good Jack Reacher novel, a bit different than the previous ones. Jack usually "gets the girl" but in this one the two females are unavailable. The focal female is in jail most of the time and the secondary female is gay.

Jack and the woman lawyer spend a lot of time and gasoline proving the other woman is innocent of the murder she confessed to in great detail.

Reacher seemed off his game in this one...not quite catching all the cues and clues. I didn't either, so I guess I shouldn't be name calling. Maybe he's still trying to recover from his girlfriend leaving him, or maybe it's true...the heat of Texas just plain wipes out one's ability to think. I mean it's true for the President isn't it?

Still and all, it was a good "listen to" and hard to turn off.

  1. I have to say I think 'futziness' is my favourite word today.
