Startitis

I've been dying to start something again. It's not enough that I have so much OTN now, I wanted to start something. So, I did!

When I first saw this pattern for Presto Chango I thought, "What a practical idea!" One could knit a couple front panels in case there was an unruly fork when eating spaghetti. Or one could make the panel reversible for the same reason.

Anyway, I started it yesterday. I'm using some yarn I got in a swap: Reynolds Dover Washable Wool. It's a nice country blue, not bright, not light, just a nice blue. And because I can rarely if ever follow a pattern as written, I've already added these modifications: a garter stitch border rather than a seed stitch. And I'm replacing the st st with the Ridge Stitch I used on the dishcloth I recently made: Row 1 Knit across, Row 2 (RS) k2tog across, Row 3 Kfb of each st, Row 4 Purl across. I'm liking it!

The construction is very simple. It's knit up the back, CO for sleeves, knit sleeves, BO sleeves, knit the front in two parts. Then make the panel.

Went out to run errands with Youngest Daughter, Youngest Son, and Youngest Granddaughter. First stop was the used book store. Which has a lot more than books. Found a used two screen portable DVD player that can plug into the cigarette lighter in the car. Eldest Daughter had a set and what a great thing when traveling long distances with little ones! And a boon is that Youngest Daughter can use it at work.

She's changed shifts and is working 11 pm to 7 am M-T-W nights. She can watch movies or listen to books on CD now at work. She is a care giver for an elderly woman who is on oxygen and needs 24 hour care to insure she doesn't get spunky and take off her oxygen.

We also went to the local World Market. I really like browsing through store--such neat stuff. Imports and just "interesting" things. Like this:

Now I'm sure there is a good reason why this UK import has that name and I'm sure it has a long and respected history. It's just putting it in today's context....well..... tee hee!
