January 9, 2007

I had madeYD wristwarmers. She felt they were too baggy. So, I started another pair yesterday. Here's the pattern. It's probably a medium size. It's tight on me, but it's what she wanted.

I used size 5 dpns and one strand of purple Lamb's Pride WW and one strand of pink Cascade 220. Both superwash.

CO 39 sts and join. Mark beginning of round. (To increase or decrease use multiples of 3)

Work ten rows of K2P1 ribbing

Switch to st st for 2.5 inches or however you want the length below the thumb.

Now you will begin knitting flat. At beginning of round, turn and purl around to the last stitch of the round. Turn again and knit to first stitch of the round. Repeat for about 10 or 11 rows. Try on to make sure it's the right size for your thumb.

Join again and knit in the round for two rounds.

Knit in ribbing again for 7 to 10 rows.

To make flat, CO 39 sts (or multiple of 3) and work in K2 P1 ribbing for ten rows.

Knit one row, purl one row for 3 inches or however long you want the gauntlets to be. Rib for 7 rows. Sew up sides leaving opening for thumb.

Adjustments can also be made by change needle size. The 5s and two strands makes a very firm fabric.
