Tofutsies #1 is Done!
Tofutsies #1 is Done! magnify

Well the first Tofutsie is done! Ya know, for all the bitchin' about the yarn, the sock is absolutely divine! Soft, thin, stretchy..... :::heavy sigh::: The socks are so nice I may have to force myself to use more of the yarn. I hate when those kind of juxtapositions happen in my life! Will CO next one this morning so Second Sock Syndrome (SSS) doesn't set in.

Wanted to show you a pic of a shawl I crocheted several years ago. All kinds of yarns...some handspun, recycle sari silk, wool blends....

I got a compliment at the Ren Faire for it and for my "Walkin' on Sunshine" socks! Makes a person feel good to have someone notice!

Renaissance Fair

We had a good time at the Renaissance Festival. The grands had their faces painted. The baby sat perfectly still through the whole process. It was kinda amazing!

And this fellow is my favorite character at the Festival.

And the obligatory fiber shot. Aren't they just as cute as can be? BTW, should you care, they are Jacobs Sheep and I have spun some Jacobs. The roving I have is black and white and makes a very nice yarn.

We got home early in the day for us, leaving the Festival around 1:00 instead of usual 5:00. My daughter had to work last night... That's okay, cuz F, his hubby and I are going again next month. As much as I like going with the kidlets, it's really nice to go with just adults!

Didn't buy much for myself. Got a leather cover for my whatever current paperback I'm reading. Nothing essential, but it just feels nice when I'm holding the book! And I got some healing cream called Skin Mend that I buy every year. It's great for anything that ails the skin and I found out yesterday is supposed to take pain away, too. I got it for the baby's eczema, but we use it for everything from diaper rash to sunburn.

Oh, knitting...almost forgot. Heel's finished on the Tofutsies and I got about a half inch done on the foot. Will work more on it today. I'll be glad when these are done. I have to admit, the sock feels exquisite... soft, stretchy, thin....but I'm just not sure that that's worth the difficulty of tiny slippery yarn!

Looking Better....still too thin
Looking Better....still too thin magnify

Well, it looks better, the color is swirling around the sock rather than pooling on one half. It's still really not fun to knit with. I've become accustomed to knitting with it. I'll finish these socks, but I'll not be buying any more Tofutsies.

We're heading off to the Renaissance Festival this morning. We used to all dress up in garb to go, but that's just a little too much now! :) I should mention that we all used to be members of the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA). It was a lot of fun, 'till, as happens with many groups, the politics got to be too much! Enough said. So we still have some of costumes, but as we haven't unpacked much of stuff yet (another long story) after moving in last September, no costuming available.

I'm thinking I should consider working on some of my other knitting projects which all have been orphaned by the new sock knitting addiction.... I'm thinking thinking is all I do about it. To be honest, I am afraid if I put the Tofutsies down I'll never pick them up again.
