Sock Toes

Well, the Saki Socks went out the window when I realized how little of the Cascade Fixation, less than two balls, I had. Not having any idea how much of a sock I could get out of the partial ball, I was forced to learn a new skill: Judy's Magic Cast On. I've tried it before using DPNs and Cat Bordhi's video. I found Cat waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too chatty and, well, obviously it didn't work for me. Using the tutorial at Knitty.com did work this time, using a circular and I'm very happy with my start.Forgetting that Fixation is a heavier yarn, I continued on with my increases to my normal stitch count of 64. It was way too, big, so I frogged back down to a stitch count of 58 as suggested by Turtlegirl. I'm going to try using Wendy's heel. This yarn is really, really nice. It's cushy and the fabric feels like the good commercial cotton socks. It's not that expensive, about $11 for a pair of socks (two balls). If I wore socks in the summer....

All the mailing to the reservation is finished. Another $10 in postage. Whew! $35.00. Well, much of the yarn was donated, so the only cost was my time and the postage.

Isn't this cowl pretty? And I have all this new yarn.....

Keeping the "We" in "Yes, We Can!"

OMG. It's amazing how one group of people (and you know who you are) can turn a free gift into a political agenda. It seems we don't have the option of free choice anymore without being targeted.... Read the comments...some are hilarious, some are in bad taste.

Here's a pretty comprehensive guide to the Presidential Inauguration on Tuesday. Guess it's time for me to turn on the TV.

Froggy

Well.... I worked all day on another Dobby Sock for Oldest GS's birthday on Sept 1. I was ready to graft the toe when something kept telling me to stop. Good thing I did. It's waaaaaay too short. Found out his shoe size, and using this chart, it's just waaaay too short. So, I'll frog the toe and add some more length. Second sock has already been CO, so these should go quickly.

I decided I'd like to try the Cascade Fixation as sock yarn. It's a cotton and elastic blend and people say it's great for socks. I'm thinking it'll be good for my Hawaii family members. I've proposed a swap with someone on Ravelry and we'll see how it goes.

Found another interent toy: Flipped type.

I have no idea what good it is, but, hey it's there.

Yummy!
