Spreading The Word....

Got a little more than half way on the leg of the second sock in this pair.

Someone on one of the groups declared January "Selfish Knitting Month." She said all her January knitting was going to be for herself. It was kinda funny how several of us reacted to the word "selfish." One dictionary says: denotes the precedence given in thought or deed to the self, i.e., self interest or self concern. It is the act of placing one's own needs or desires above the needs or desires of others. Not very flattering to put one self first. I agree with the concept, though, and suggest SelfNurturing Knitting might be a good alternative.

So do you knit for yourself? What percentage of your knitted items are for you?

Someone else suggested that the act of knitting is selfish or selfnuturing no matter where the end product ends up. Discuss in comments. :)

I agree with Colin. Oh My!

Keeping the "We" in "Yes, We Can!"

Spreading the word. I got this e-mail from my sister about my great niece: In the meantime do you have a crochet hat pattern thats simple enough for an 11 year old beginning crocheter? Bridget (Darren's daughter) is doing a lot of crocheting and would like to help with the hats for Cheyenne Kids. She's make several hats but might be ready to start some new ideas.
I don't know how many hats Bridget will make, but she is definitely keeping the "We" in "Yes, We Can!"

  1. What is with those nails and How does she do that?
Selfish knitting, hum. .I don't believe there is anything selfish about spending my time knitting for myself. Self loathing seems to be a big problem, especially with women. All we see in ourselves is the negative and society has made it wrong to even mention what we might like about ourselves. Tooting your own horn. If you don't, who will? Seems to me that being a little selfish if you want to call it that is OK.
    Just one womans opinion.

I really am glad you're commenting. Please make sure I can find you by insuring you leave an e-mail address. It's so frustrating to have someone ask a question and no way to answer them! Thanks!
