Heel to Toe

They are moving along. Didn't get a lot of knitting time yesterday. The grey line on the left side is where the heel will go. I like not having the striping of the yarn interrupted by the change in number of sts when using the heel flap heel.
Granddaughter's been wanting curls, so we experimented with rag curlers. They work very well! Next time we'll use a hair net or scarf to keep them all snug up to the scalp, but all in all she was very pleased with the result. As a baby she had curly curly hair, but it's straightened out as she got older. However, it holds a curl very well, so unlike my hair, these curls remained really curly all day. Mine would have fallen within hours.... Not that I really want curly hair, but sometimes it'd be nice to have some "interest" there....

Autumn is coming. My internal calendar must be based on the solar system rather than the temperature. Yes, it's only been in the high 80s the last couple days, and it's cool, 71, now, but this is different. At this time, as a child, my thoughts turned to new pencils, the wonderful smell of Crayolas, clean empty notebooks, and pink erasures. I'm old enough to remember the smell of burning leaves and the haze they left in the air. Needing a sweater in the morning while walking to school and hating it in the afternoon when walking home. Now, my thoughts are turning from sock weight yarn to worsteds that need to be made into sweaters. Not that we need sweaters very much here, but fall's around the corner and it's time to insure everyone will be warm over the winter.

My internal calendar was born and matured in the plains, not the desert. Some things just don't transplant easily.

  1. Love the sock and yarn.

As for the GD hair...it is beautiful. Looks so soft and girly. She'll remember that you did that for her when she's a grown woman and look back with loving thoughts.

I really am glad you're commenting. Please make sure I can find you by insuring you leave an e-mail address. It's so frustrating to have someone ask a question and no way to answer them! Thanks!
