Socks and Stuff

With the help of several people I found out what this sock yarn is. Cherry Hill Supersock Merino, colorway African Grey. As you can see I finished up the first sock last night. This is very nice yarn, thicker than some sock yarn I've worked with. It makes a very nice soft and cozy sock.

I just counted and these socks are my fifth pair this month: Baby socks to go with the Hoodie, Hookers' Fingernails, Tropical Socks, Midnight in the Orchid Garden, and now the Samhain Sunsets. BTW, the second SS sock is CO, finished the cuff and have almost an inch of the leg done.

I have to admit, and this is hard for me, that Magic Loop is way easier than DPNs. Especially the CO and first few rounds. I always CO one extra stitch, slip it to the other needle and K2tog to join. So quick, easy.... I do miss my connection to knitters of the past I feel when using DPNs, but hey, what can I say. These new fangled 36 inch Addi's are the best.

CrazyAuntPurl speaks on clutter (or as George Carlin would have said, "Shit."): So finally it dawned on me that I didn't need to buy more stuff to hold my clutter or spend more money to live in a larger house. I didn't need systems and schedules and a complex zone strategy to cleaning and arranging crap. The solution wasn't nearly as complicated as I tried to make it. The solution was I needed to get rid of some stuff! And furthermore, I needed to stop purchasing more stuff. The end.

It's true, you know.

The Darkest Evening of the Year The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz

rating: 3 of 5 stars
I really liked this all the way through to the ending. A friend pointed out that he quit reading Koontz because of the endings. I'm afraid he's right.

I don't remember other Koontz book endings bothering me.

It's a fantastic story of the supernatural, except that part can be explained away till the end. Then it's kinda thrown in your face...or dropped in plop on the floor.

A very special Golden Retriever, Nickie, rescue plays an important part in the life of it's rescuer, her boyfriend. Nickie also touches the lives of an autistic girl, and a lovely Downe's girl...even a contract killer.

If you like mysteries, dogs, and good stories, this is a fine book. If you like good endings....sorry.

  1. The sock is really nice, Lizzie. As for clutter, someone I know whenever she purchases an item or two and brings it into the house, the same number goes out. For me it would have to be bring in two, take out four.

  2. Those are great sock colors. I haven't tried Cherry Tree Hill yet. I guess I need to put it on my list.
