I received this yarn in a box of odds n ends another knitter sent me. I know it's a sock yarn, which is pretty obvious from it's coloring and feel. What I don't know is what kind it is or the colorway. Anyone have any guesses what it could be?
I cast on a sock yesterday early in the day and as it's just too hot to do much of anything, I knit most of the day sitting in front of the fan listening to the current book, The Darkest Evening of the Year, by Dean Koontz.
By the time I called it quits last night, I'd finished the gusset decreases and started the foot. It's a short sock as I don't know how much yarn I have and I'd rather be safe than sorry!I'm using a variation of Lava Flow Socks by Sockbug. It's a really easy slip stitch pattern that breaks up the color repeats nicely. I am still shying away from the short row heel...I really need to try it, but.... I'm calling these Samhain (pronounced /ˈsaʊn) Sunset Socks.
I just read this pattern, Spring Forward, on Knitty and I think this may be my next pair of socks. Except I don't have any solid color yarn. But a colorway would hide any errors....
Very pretty, Lizzie. It doesn't look familiar to me. There is something soothing and comforting about the colorway.
ReplyDeleteBlackDog on Ravelry will know--I think he carries it in his store...in fact I'm sure I've seen the exact same colorway...it's Colinette, I'm pretty sure.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I like that pattern.
ReplyDeleteActually, I think it might be Champlain Sunset from Cherry Tree Hill. I made my mom a pair of socks from this very yarn a couple years ago!
ReplyDeleteNah, It's African Grey....I'm sure of it.
ReplyDeleteGreat colorway regardless of its name. And short socks are great--better than running out of yarn!
