Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

This is the first blanket the Charity Log Cabin Knitting group has finished. It only took us about 2.5 years. Interestingly enough, after I bitched here yesterday, I found a note from the woman that said she'd mailed the blankets. She said the envelope got ripped up and finally returned to her and she'd mail them out again. The note is almost 30 days old, so I'm not holding my breath.

The other three, possibly, four recent losses also turned up found after I wrote a rather adamant e-mail to the group. So, we've only had two or three blankets really stolen. Which is still rather sad. Ann at Sheep Shots wrote about people vandalizing and stealing from food banks. What is the world coming to? I can understand stealing food to eat, but truckloads of frozen chicken? Give me a break.

On the upside, someone was looking for someone to give odd bits of yarn to and she said she send them to me. It's always fun to get the odd balls of this 'n' that to make into baby things or striped blankets. And I've read in several blogs of knitters gifting others so I'm starting to regain my faith in the fiber community.

And then I wonder, why do we jump to measure a community of people by the ones that haven't been "nice"? Why not always jump to measure by those that have done good?

  1. Amen to your last paragraph. Someone asked me recently why I was friends with someone who had made a very rude comment to me. I told her the history of friendship goes back a long ways and I like to filter the good from the bad unless someone is absolutely evil. (and we both know a couple of those!)

  2. unfortunately it tends to be the few rotten people who make others forget all the good in the world :o( It's easy to be angry and understandable to, but we must keep faith and remember most of us are good guys :o) ou do so much charity knitting Lizzie and you re indeed one of the good guys :o)

I really am glad you're commenting. Please make sure I can find you by insuring you leave an e-mail address. It's so frustrating to have someone ask a question and no way to answer them! Thanks!
