- Frog Pond
-
The green sock went to the frog pond permanently. It was just wrong. Too big for me and the wrong kind of yarn (non-super wash) for my sons. What I did learn is to check for dropped sts often. I dropped more sts in this sock than all other socks combined, I think. And really dropped them...they were over 20 rows down. I did find out what size yarn, needles, and number of CO sts for socks for my sons! Which is good news. So, working really hard I can find a silver lining to my green sock cloud.
I got a huge bunch of yarn a few years ago from my local Freecycle group. I got four balls of this. It sheds like crazy,
but is very soft and nice to work with. So I CO another pair of socks. At first I put it with a hand dyed yarn, but didn't like that. A bit of the dye rubbed off on the white, but I'll more than likely dye these when I'm finished anyway. So I have a nice soft fuzzy pair of socks that feel like angora.
Hopefully these will never see the frog pond because it's as difficult to frog as real angora!
I still have the urge to CO "something else". I'm thinking about using that yarn I got from unraveling the thrift store sweater and making a Kitty Pi bed. That requires me to start knitting in a circle again....like the pinwheel sweater...which I really don't want to do, but..... We'll see...
'Member I told you about the other bag of raw fleece that was up at the Ren Festival. It was grey and $10 for the bag which was bigger than the alpaca I bought. Foolishly, I let that bag sit there and went home. I e-mailed the people at the re-enactment group just to see if I could still get it. The woman selling it contacted me and in the next few weeks we are going to connect and I'll get the bag of llama! That is if all goes well! Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Today's my day to get together with F. Haven't heard from him yet, but will call him after I take my grand daughter to school. He came by yesterday to do another acupuncture treatment on my daughter but I was out running errands so didn't get to talk to him much.
