Pedicure Socks are Done!
Pedicure Socks are Done! magnify

They are finally finished! Actually they didn't take that long, just I couldn't work on them daily....

Now I have a question to pose. This is the Thinking Woman's Shawl I've been working on. It's not laying flat as the one on the pattern page does. Even giving part of that as a need to be blocked, I still don't think if I keep on, it's going to be flat. And I'll tell you why I think that: Stockinette stitch is longer (top to bottom) than Garter stitch, therefore, the border rows are going to be shorter, top to bottom always, than the body of the shaw. As the center of the shawl becomes larger, it becomes longer than the border and thus bunches up.

Would a seed stitch border fix this? If not, what will? I thought the spaces made by the yo would compensate. Then I started doing a YO K2tog every two rows, including the border thinking that would provide the extra room, but it doesn't seem to be doing it.

I've also noticed this phenomenon on scarves of St st with garter st borders... Yet I see pics off these scarves in which all the rows look even.

Any ideas....?
