A Climber....
A Climber.... magnify

Well, it appears that my highly intelligent youngest grand daughter (16.5 mo) has figured out how to climb up on the kitchen table. She got her little step stool, slid it over to a chair and proceeded to climb up onto the table. Life as we know it will never be the same.

She's also figured out how to unzip zippers, so my knitting bag and purse are no longer out of bounds for her. I'll need to find somewhere to put them she can't get to them, which is kinda hard now that she's figured out how to climb.... Can you say, "Not a happy camper"?

I ran away from home yesterday. F called, my daughter's client canceled, so I ended up with an afternoon to myself. F and I went out to our favorite Chinese place for lunch, got some jewelry findings to make row counters, and sat at Border's drinking coffee and looking through knitting books.

You know, I don't buy knitting books to get patterns for items, like a sweater, or shawl, or socks when there are sooooo very many nice free patterns on line. I will sometimes buy a book of stitch patterns. like cables, or lace patterns, or textured patterns. But, you can even find lists of those on line. Now sometimes I'll buy books on technique...fixing mistakes, how to ____________ or things like that. But I'm finding, generally, if you ask questions in groups and forums you can get those answers, too. So, as long as I have an Internet connection, or access to one, I don't need to spend money on books. And of course there is the library for help, too.

I have a finite income and have to choose where each dollar is spent. It's always been an "either/or" scenario for me. Sometimes I envy the women that write how they stopped by the LYS on the way home from grocery shopping and just had to spend $70-$80 on an impulse buy with no purpose in mind. Other times, I'm really glad that I don't have those impulses as I'd never be able to support them and then, boy howdy, would I be in trouble!
