The toe is almost finished on the second Scrappy Sock for Youngest Son. Then adding the afterthought heel and it'll be done except for the dyeing. Then on to another pair for Second Son. With ingenious reinforcements!

Hmmmmmm! I wonder if this would work for reinforcing heels and toes!sad smileys

What did you do right in 2008? Tell Jane and win some neat stuff!Snagged from Grace who snagged it from Ria. "Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of sh**."

Book 93 of 2008. I didn't make my 100 book challenge. It looked so easy last summer when I was putting away three books a week! Oh, well, there's always next year. I spent a good while setting up a data base to keep track of my books on. Each book has to be reviewed listed and posted for the different challenges.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder (Hannah Swensen Mystery, Book 1) Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke

rating: 3 of 5 stars
An okay cozy mystery. One could put on at least ten pounds reading it with all the discussion of the cookies! Adding insult to injury, cookie recipes and hints are included!

Hannah owns a cookie and coffee place in a tiny town in Minnesota, not very far from where I grew up. Her brother-in-law is one of the three person law enforcement team. She helps him solve the first murders that have taken place in the area for many years. The town football hero from twenty years ago, and a few days later his curmudgeon boss have both been shot at short range with the same gun. Hannah, of course, discovers both bodies and eventually the person who pulled the trigger.

She has a nice group of friends, an almost nagging mother, sister and niece in addition to aforementioned BIL. And a one-eyed cat named Moshe.

There were enough feasible suspects that I didn't figure out whodunnit any sooner than Hannah did.

Keeping the "We" in "Yes, We Can!"

You aren't what you eat, you're what they convince you to eat!

Musings on a year of frugality.

Mistakes to avoid.

"I view frugal living as essentially hedonistic: I don't deny myself things. Rather, I spend less on the things I don't care about in order to be able to spend more on the things that matter to me. Anybody who does this, though, sooner or later (as soon as friends, relatives, coworkers, or neighbors notice some of that spending on things that matter more) is going to hear, "You're so lucky to be able to afford that!" -Philip Brewer I've been doing this for years. "I have $X. I can spend it here. Or here. But not both. Make a choice."
