No socks....
No socks.... magnify

My prediction was correct...there was no time for knitting socks yesterday. My sons arrived around lunch time--and brought Arby's for everyone. I don't do much fast food, so it's always a treat for me! Especially when it's not hamburgers.

We played cribbage ("he" won), Disney Scene It (the other :he: won) and then we watched movies: Mary Reilly and Wide Awake, M. Night Shyamalan's first movie. You might know him better for The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, Lady in the Water, and The Village. Wide Awake is a great movie about a little boy's search for God. Rosie O'Donnell plays a great nun!

The knitting I did do was to work on my Log Cabin blanket. I added the blue band across the top and the red down the left side. It's nice mindless garter stitch that allows me to watch a movie, keep an eye on the grands and have a conversation with my brain damaged son who suffered Traumatic Brain Injury due to the car accident in 1997 that put him in the wheel chair. Conversations can be a bit bizarre at times. Normally he's pretty much on top of things, but does have short term memory issues, so some days it's like conversing with someone in the early stages of Old Timer's Disease. Of course some days I'm in the early stages of OTD, so we come off even!

My hopes are to work on my Sock in a Day Challenge today. The transmission went out on our only vehicle so my daughter is "grounded" until we can get it fixed. Hopefully all mechanics will be at their mothers' homes today. My daughter needs a couple days off...and so do I!

My Mother's Day haul so far has been a $25 gift card for the movie theater, roses, and finally my copy of Charmed Knits.

Here's a new sock pattern-Dragon Fly Socks.

For those that like Toe-Up socks, here's a video of a Magic Cast on. It's done on circulars, but looks like it could easily be adapted to DPNs if that's ones preference.

Some sock patterns and some more sock patterns

If you are having trouble with the Kitchener Stitch, here's a tutorial with nice sized pictures

These are just pretty socks

Happy Mother's Day
