Fixed It!
Fixed It! magnify

I fixed the first sock...I unbound it using the Elizabeth Zimmerman's Sewn Cast Off It worked really well. It certainly will go in my bag of tricks!

I CO on the second sock and got a few inches done, as you can see in the pic above. I switched back to my metal needles and boy, howdy, does that speed things up. I think I need to sand my Brittany's and wax them. They sure feel draggy....

And that was pretty much my day yesterday. Oh, one of my sons finally moved into his own place which emptied out our storage shed. So we started moving out some of the stuff we had been storing in our house because we didn't have room in the storage shed! I found a bunch of my cross stitch as well as some very dirty wool that needs to be processed so I can spin it. Don't know what kind of wool it is or where it came from. Gettin' old and loosing one's memory is such a pain sometimes.

Anyway, we have a bunch of space now we didn't have before! It's nice when that happens, especially in the spring and one can get rid of the claustrophobic feelings of winter!

My daughter caught the bug, too, and cleaned out all the clothes she's not going to ever wear again. Her overcrowded dresser now holds all her clothes and we don't have to buy another bigger one!

The weather has turned again, and it's been in the 80s during the day and in the 40s at night. The bedrooms on the second floor are so hot, it's time to dig out my room air conditioner. That's another big fiasco as my bedroom has to be re-arranged.... Oh well, change is good, right?

Thought I'd answer a few of the comments from the last couple entries:

Thanks for all the nice words about my pumpkin girl. I think she's so pretty and really enjoy seeing her sitting on my bookshelf.

Joansie: I only wear Birkenstocks, so more of my socks show. It's getting too hot to wear socks here now, so they'll probably go into my sock drawer. Next winter I'll wear them with jeans and t-shirt!

Amy: I don't cross stitch at all anymore. I'm a "one hobby" gal. I got rid of a bunch of XS books and magazines when I moved last fall, but did keep all my fabric, floss, and important magazines. Maybe I'll pick the hobby up again, who knows? Especially if I find it too hot to knit this summer! Oh, and there was a link on my post about recycling yarn as to how to identify sweaters good for recycling.

I've never fulled or felted a sweater and then cut it up. Sounds like it could be fun! They'd make great hot pads. Maybe if I find more wool sweaters that aren't good for unraveling I can do that. Always thinking of Christmas presents!
