Toe UP
Toe UP magnify

I decided to try something different this time. Toe-up socks. Actually, I've tried to make them before, in my previous, very short, sock life time. So, I'm makin' it up as I go along.

Not a fan of a any of the regular toes, I remembered one idea of knitting a small piece, picking up sts all around and beginning the increases. So I did. Most of them start with like a one inch square of knitting and then pick up. I decided to do a rectangle. It makes a really square toe as you can see. Which is not particularly attractive for photographs, but fits very nicely, at least so far! I'm putting a K2P2 ribbing on the top of the sock, just to try something different. I'll keep you posted on how they turn out.

I must have CO six or seven different socks yesterday before I ended up deciding to go toes up. Couldn't count correctly...ended up with too few sts every time. So annoying.... I cast on so many times the yarn was starting to pill.

I really love the way the yarn's knitting up. It's the fiesta yarn I dyed last week.

The color repeats are too big so I'm not getting big pooling or anything. I'm sure some sort of pattern will emerge, but hopefully it'll be varied enough it would be too strong of a pattern.

I decided the most recent yarn is going to be called Lifesavers. Although the photo doesn't quite show it, the colors are very bright and mimic the colors in a roll of Lifesavers quite nicely.

The only undyed skein I have is the one with the color flecks in it. I'm thinking of a pale green, but who knows?
